This photo was taken at the Niamey Airport, at a time when air travel was the privilege of the happy few. French airline UTA (Union des Transport Aeriens) was with Air Afrique and Sabena (Societé Anonyme Belge d'Exploitation de la Navigation Aérienne) one of the few companies to operate to and from Niamey. UTA was absorbed by Air France in the early 1990s.
